Sometimes FATE plays a hand in what we do and who we meet...January 25th 2004 FATE bought Lieutenant Joe McCarthy Southold Fire Department Long Island,volunteer fire fighter from Suffolk County, Executive Director of "THE 343 HOUSE" Corp which is a non-profit entity who's mission is to raise several million dollars to build a retreat house for the Widows and children of the 343 lost firefighters from 9/11... into the house of this Australian Fire Buff.
It was a day filled with tears and emotion,and it will be a day that will be fondly remembered. Many thanks to Joe for his gifts,words of encourgement,but more importantly for his friendship,and for allowing me to be closer to the F.D.N.Y
These are the gifts that Joe bought with him. Including a Special 9/11 memorial bracelet from "Bracelets of America" that bears the name of Father Mychal Judge and an autographed book by Chief Phil Burns of the 11th Division Brooklyn who was Citywide Tour Commander during much of the 9/11 recovery and clean up. Many thanks to Chief Burns for his book.
