9/11 Memorial Surf - 2006

11th September 2006

Many,many Memorial Services will be held the World over,to REMEMBER and HONOUR all those who lost their lives Sept 11th 2001. Those in the Fire Service,Police Department,Port Authority and civilians all caught in the tragedy of that day will be remembered.

For me personally, running a website "Dedicated to Firefighters",it is a day that will never pass without a remembrance, and a silent prayer for those families,friends and firefighters left behind,and a prayer of thanks for those who survived.

While I am sure many fire stations here in Brisbane will have a small memorial moment,I am honoured to be apart of a SPECIAL Memorial Surf Competition on the Gold Coast,conducted by the Fire & Surf Boardriders where I will be taking photos.

It is their way of remembering their fallen brothers of New York while combining their passion for surfing.

This is the 4th year this has been done, and while usually held at Narrowneck on the Gold Coast, this mornings poor swell saw this years event take place at Burleigh Heads.

A huge wooden trophy made and donated by Graham Weir of Timindo Coconut Timber is reministant of the World Trade towers with a bronze surfer in between a personal touch of the Fire & Surf Boardriders will again carry the names of the Shortboard, Longboard and Kneeboard riders.

My thanks to Troy,Vic, Tony and John for allowing me to be apart of this memorial yet again, and to all the guys for making me feel like a part of the "extended" family - and I look forward to next year!
